Biography
Alexis Makrides is a contemporary classical music composer from Nicosia, Cyprus. His work reflects an enduring interest in musical composition, instrumentation and the exploration of new sound worlds.
He completed undergraduate and postgraduate studies in music composition at universities in the United Kingdom, earning his bachelor’s degree in 2006 and master’s degree in 2008. His postgraduate studies included composition at the University of Huddersfield.
In 2025, he attended composition classes at the Moscow Conservatory. Alongside his musical practice, he has worked in entrepreneurship and holds an MBA from ESCP Business School in Paris.
His artistic interests encompass contemporary concert music, electroacoustic music, innovative notation and extended instrumental techniques.
